DIY Bookshelf Speakers (HiVi 3.1 with crossover mod)

Summer 2021, I built a set of three-way bookshelf speakers. I had seen a review of the finished speaker on an audio forum and I decided to purchase the kit. The kit came with almost all the necessary components and instructions to build the speakers.

I soldered a modified crossover with a few substituted components and assembled the speakers over the course of a few weekends. The modified crossover corrected the brightness (increased volume for high frequencies) of the original kit, and more information can be found on the crossover designers site here.

I have really enjoyed the result - a set of speakers that, to this day, sound better than anything I've heard. Building these speakers was a challenging but fun experience that deepened my understanding of audio engineering and grew my confidence as a maker.
