12V Trigger to Infrared (IR) Signal

In Fall 2022, I took on a personal project to streamline my parents' AV experience. I built an Arduino device that integrates their Denon AV receiver with their Sonos system. The device uses an optocoupler to detect the 12V signal coming from the Sonos Port, and an old Arduino board from an introductory computer engineering class that was not being used. By using an IR signal, the device is able to turn on the receiver automatically when music is played on the Sonos Port. This means that my parents no longer have to manually turn on the receiver every time they want to listen to music. This project was a great opportunity for me to apply my skills in electronics and programming to create something that has real utility and repurposes an old Arduino.
